Tip for the Week: Sleep!

The best thing to do this week is to really devote time to sleep. Scientists have found that people in the early days of our species used to sleep 12 or more hours a day. We can't do this nowadays, but how about going to bed early one night this week or sleeping later than usual this weekend? Put on your softest pj's or nightgown and use your silkiest sheets and coziest blankets on your bed. I don't agree with the modern thinking that you should get up the same time every day so your body clock doesn't get confused. Your body needs more sleep, and winter weekends are the best time to hibernate in our caves. Sleep is a sensual pleasure, like sex and food--indulge!

February

Isn't February the hardest month? The holidays are long over (which actually is mostly a relief), but everything seems so endlessly gray, cold and slushy. My solution for this month is making and/or eating desert, chocolate and burrowing in. There's solace to be found in the cave--after all, that's where we used to spend all of our species' winters. Stock it with poetry, comic books, and Tarot cards. Do a spread for the year ahead, if you haven't in January, or one for Valentine's Day.

O February fairy
Though you are cold and gray,
Enchant us to look inward
This slushy day.

The Closet Mystic

This will be a blog about being an urban mystic. Also, my thoughts about the occult, science, and spirituality. One person's spirituality may be another's occult beliefs. Someone's science may be another's spirituality. I am also a writer on various fey and non-money-making topics, mostly poetry--so some of that will be here too.
